Wrought Iron & Steel Fencing

Wrought Iron & Steel Fencing in Fresno, CA

Spear-top security and estate fence that looks as serious as it is.

Iron fence is what you build when the boundary has to say something. It is the hardest fence to get over, it does not block the view of a property you actually want seen, and unlike wood it is completely indifferent to Valley heat. The long black spear-top run along the almond orchard in our portfolio is a good example of the work: hundreds of feet of picket line held dead straight across uneven ground.

Most of what people call wrought iron today is welded tubular steel, powder-coated black — stronger and far more consistent than old wrought stock, and it does not need repainting every few years. AR Fence builds it for estate frontages, rural and agricultural perimeters, pool enclosures and anywhere a homeowner wants security without a wall.

Options

Steel & Iron Options

Picket top, height and panel style set the character of the whole property line.

  • Spear-top pickets

Pickets extended above the top rail and pointed. The classic security profile, and genuinely unpleasant to climb.

  • Flat-top / press-point

A flush top rail for a cleaner, lower-profile look, or pressed points for something between flat and spear.

  • Rackable panels

Panels that pivot to follow a slope so the fence tracks the ground instead of stair-stepping with gaps underneath.

  • Powder-coated finish

Baked-on black finish over galvanized or primed steel — no annual repaint, and it holds up to sprinkler spray.

  • Pool enclosures

California sets minimum barrier height and maximum gap spacing for pool fencing, plus self-closing, self-latching gates. We build to the current requirements — ask and we will walk you through them.

  • Matching gates

Walk gates, double-swing drive gates and sliding gates fabricated in the same picket style, with the option to motorize.

Our process

How an Iron Fence Job Runs

  1. Step 1

    Site walk and layout

Long runs live or die on layout. We string the line, find the high and low points, and plan panel breaks and gate posts around them.

  2. Step 2

Estimate with panel style priced out

You see what spear-top costs against flat-top, and what the gates add, before you commit.

  3. Step 3

    Posts set in concrete

Steel posts on grade, plumbed and set deep enough for the panel height and the wind exposure.

  4. Step 4

    Panels hung and racked

Panels bracketed to the posts and racked to the slope so the picket line stays even against the horizon.

  5. Step 5

    Gates, latches, touch-up

Gates hung and adjusted, hardware installed, and any cut or drilled steel touched up so the finish is sealed everywhere.

Why it works

Why Iron

  • Security without a wall

You keep the view, the light and the airflow, and you still have a barrier that is hard to defeat.

  • Nothing to maintain

Powder-coated steel asks for a rinse and the occasional touch-up. That is the whole maintenance schedule.

  • Built for acreage

Orchard, ranch and rural perimeters where a wood fence would be impractical to build and worse to maintain.

  • Real property presence

An estate frontage in black steel changes how a property reads from the road.

Questions

Wrought Iron & Steel FAQs

The questions we get asked most about this kind of work.

Is wrought iron fence a good choice for a rural or ag property?

It is one of the best. Steel does not rot where irrigation runs, it does not attract termites, and a spear-top perimeter is a genuine deterrent along a road frontage. The orchard run in our portfolio is exactly that kind of job.

Will an iron fence rust in the Valley?

A powder-coated fence resists it well. Rust shows up at cuts, drilled holes and scratches, which is why we seal those on install and why touching up a nick early matters more than anything else you can do.

Can iron fence follow a sloping yard?

Yes — rackable panels pivot at the picket to follow the grade. On steeper ground we step the panels instead and detail the gap so nothing can get under it.
