Madera is a straight run north on 99 across the San Joaquin River, and it is a genuinely different fencing market from Fresno. The city itself has compact residential lots where wood and slatted chain-link do most of the work. Everything around it — the almond and pistachio ground, the vineyards west of town, and the Madera Ranchos parcels off Avenue 12 — is acreage, and acreage wants perimeter fence and a gate at the road.
On a rural Madera parcel the fence is doing a different job. It is marking a boundary across several hundred feet, keeping livestock or dogs in, and keeping vehicles off a driveway that is nowhere near the house.
